Before hearing about the BARBAR Ceramic ECO 8000 Blow Dryer ($150) I didn’t even know eco-friendly blow dryers existed. Blow dryers just seem be one of those things that are so commonplace in everyday life that we don’t usually give much thought to them. Which is all the more reason why it makes sense to put a product like this on the market. A product that we use daily and is eco-friendly. Makes sense to me!
Truth be told, I don’t actually use blow dryers. I guess I’m somewhat of a creature of habit and they were forbidden from my household when I was growing up. The reason? EMFs. EMF radiation is being studied heavily due to its potential health risks, especially in cell phones, though they are found in every electronic device. As long as the device is turned on, EMFs will be emitted. Here’s a little about the EMFs in blow dryers from the BARBAR website:
“The ECO 8000 has 5.0 mG (milligauss) output radiation. A standard 1,800 WATT dryer has over 200.0 mG! This amount of mG is comparable to the radiation output of a microwave.” Pretty crazy!
(brought out a creepy mannequin hand for a size comparison!)
In terms of eco-friendliness, the product’s ceramic heating element is key. The ceramic heating element uses electricity more efficiently than the standard coil heating element by converting most of the energy into heat rather than radiation. This translates into less radiation being emitted and less electricity being required. The ceramic heating element also lasts 5x longer than coil heating element!
(the ECO 8000 comes with two nozzle attachments of different sizes)
While the idea of an eco-friendly blow dryer is pretty exciting in itself, the blow dryer also work really well which is, of course, totally crucial. Even though I don’t use blow dryers much at all, I know enough to know that this one works…
Because I have a TON of hair which is super thick and also probably enough to satisfy like three or four normal heads worth. If it works for me, I honestly think it will work for just about anyone. It didn’t take long at all to dry my hair completely and, although I was expecting lots of frizziness, left my hair as smooth as towel/air dried hair and probably even softer. The air from the device itself doesn’t feel too hot and the body of the dryer doesn’t seem to heat up much at all (although the nozzle does become warm).
Even for those like myself that don’t use hair dryers very often (I can’t imagine there are many of “us” out there), the ECO 8000 is a SUPER handy hair tool to have around when you’re in a pinch. The fact that its an eco-friendly and lower EMF is the icing on the cake!
